No More Updates for Windows XP and Microsoft Office 2003

Microsoft will stop supporting Windows XP and Microsoft Office 2003 as of 4/8/2014.

What does this mean for your business?

Currently, Microsoft is only releasing security updates for Windows XP and Microsoft Office 2003 users; leaving computers without the latest Internet Explorer and product updates. If you are currently running the Windows XP operating system in your PC, you will no longer receive any updates after 4/8/2014.

Our CEO, Nathan Whittacre, explains how important is to constantly update your computer:

“Computer programs, apps and operating systems are constantly improved based on customer feedback and security enhancements. When purchasing any one of them, the company receives automatic updates that will make devices work well and stay protected. Make sure all applications are to the latest version, especially Windows and Mac security updates, anti-virus and anti-malware protection. It is also a best practice to have a third party review applications to make sure they are up to date.”

What is the next step?

Start planning ahead and avoid the last minute headaches. Stimulus Technologies can help you through the transition process. We recommend upgrading to Windows 7 Professional, instead of the newly released Windows 8. The Windows 7 Professional operating system is easy to use and compatible with most business software and printer/scanner equipment.

We understand upgrading all computers in your office can be costly. After thorough research, here is an example for the type of computer we would recommend:

HP Business Desktop 3500 includes Windows 7 Professional, 4GB Memory, 500GB Hard Drive and Intel Core i3 for $489 each. For the full upgrade, add Microsoft Office 2013 for $220. Stimulus Technologies can help you through the entire process from ordering the equipment to installing it in your office.
